DALYA OMAR

STRUCTURES ENGINEER, VIRGIN ORBIT

Space has shaped the way I view myself and humanity. Growing up, nothing excited me more than wanting to have a hand in humanity’s exploration of Space. I graduated from Syracuse University in 2018, where I majored in Aerospace Engineering and minored in Engineering Management. Graduating from Syracuse, not only did my education equip me with the core fundamentals needed to tackle my job, but my overall experience taught me the versatility needed to be a multifaceted engineer in an ever changing workforce.

Today I work at Virgin Orbit as a Structures Engineer. I’m currently the Responsible Engineer for the hardware inside the propellant tanks, which includes the Composite Overwrapped Pressure Vessels, that store and deliver gaseous helium and nitrogen to the rocket engine system and serve as a major component of the rocket’s pressurization system. My responsibilities range from designing hardware and supporting test & manufacturing needs, to analyzing integrated test and light data.
